I'm a husband, father and engineer living in Switzerland, near Zurich. Between 1997 and 2003, I've studied computer sciences at ETH Zurich and co-own a boutique engineering company called Classy Code. My biggest hobbies are astronomy and electronics, and I'm a licensed radio amateur (HB9DPA). I like winter sports, especially ice skating and skiing.
I'm interested in observing stellar occultations and am a member of the International Occultation Timinig Association's European section, IOTA-ES. Here is the list of my observations. In this context, I'm working on developing a digital video camera.
One of my side projects is a revolving star chart for iOS. If you have an iPad, you can download it from the App Store.
I'm a member of my home town's astronomy club. For the large 50cm and 85cm telescopes, I've developed the telescope controller hard- and software as well as the motor driver electronics. We have recently added high-precision encoders on both axes and implemented support for pointing model corrections.
I have various ideas for future side projects (but not enough time to work on them right now...):
I'm not a big fan of social media platforms, so you won't find me on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp etc...
